A suspect wanted for shooting a man in Atlantic City last month has been taken off of the streets.

The Atlantic City Police Department says on the morning of March 23rd, officers responded to the 1400 block of Memorial Avenue in reference to gunshots being fired.

Officers arrived to find evidence of gunfire but no victim.

Two days later, the victim, 42 years old from Hillside, NJ, walked into AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

An investigation by ACPD detectives identified 52-year-old John Coles of Atlantic City as the suspect responsible for shooting the victim.

Officers Henderson Cedano and Christopher Campbell recently located Coles in the 1400 block of Atlantic Avenue where he was arrested without incident.

Coles has been charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and certain person not to possess a weapon.

He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
