Teen Charged in Vineland Homicide

A teenager in Vineland has been charged with allegedly fatally stabbing a woman in Vineland early Friday morning.

The Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office says at about 4 AM, the Vineland Police Department responded to a report of a possible homicide at a home on Union Road.

At the scene, cops found 38-year-old Christina Asselta, who had sustained multiple stab wounds. Despite immediate efforts to save her life, Asselta was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation led to the identification and apprehension of a 17-year-old juvenile who knew the victim, according to officials.

Teenager Taken Into Custody at the Scene

The unnamed suspect was taken into custody at the scene without incident and has been charged with the following:

  • Murder (Purposeful)
  • Murder (Knowing)
  • Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Knife)
  • Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose

The teenager remains in custody and authorities believe this was an isolated incident with no further threat to the community.

Investigation Remains Ongoing
