A Wildwood man has been arrested in connection with a burglary in Cape May last month.

The Cape May Police Department says just before 4:00 early on the morning of December 4th, their officers responded to an alarm call at 518 Washington Street. Detectives processed the scene and obtained video surveillance from the area, which led them to identify a suspect.

During the course of the investigation, numerous interviews were conducted and detectives determined that the suspect, 51-year-old Walter E. Langston of Wildwood, was in possession of a vehicle seen in the area on the night of the incident, as well as on several nights prior.

Investigators also learned that the Middle Township and Wildwood Police Departments were also investigating burglaries in their respective jurisdictions, allegedly involving the same person.

Cape May and Middle Township police detectives subsequently interviewed Langston at the Middle Township Police Department following his arrest by that agency on January 13th. They say during that interview, "Langston admitted to committing the burglaries investigated by these departments."

Langston was formally charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree theft, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and third-degree possession of burglars tools.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Cape May police at (609) 884-9500.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
