I realize I'm probably wasting my time with this, but what the heck....

I'm vaccinated against Covid-19 and I would encourage you to do the same.

Is being vaccinated the end-all cure-all of this pandemic? Of course not. I do believe it helps.

Is the vaccine a government conspiracy to control us all? You don't seriously believe that, do you?

So, what follows are my thoughts on the vaccine. Who am I? Just a guy on the radio who gets to write stuff on a website.

As I mentioned above, I got the vaccine because I truly believe it helps.

Does it prevent me from getting the virus? I hope so, but maybe not.

Does the vaccine help to prevent me from dying from the virus? I hope so.

Does the vaccine help prevent me from spreading the virus to family, loved ones, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and strangers? I hope so.

Right now, you might be thinking, "Joe! You're doing a lot of hoping! It's not 100% proven."

You know what I say? Nothing is 100% proven.

Do you know anyone who's ever had cancer? Did they take any medications to fight the cancer? Did they have surgery? Did they get chemotherapy or radiation? I'm going to bet everyone wasn't 100% sure that it would work, right? But they had hope!

Have you ever suffered from allergies? Did you take over-the-counter or prescribed medicine? Were you 100% sure that it would get rid of your symptoms? No, but you hoped it would.

When you were a kid and you got a "boo-boo", did your mom kiss it in hopes of "making it better"? Of course she did! Was she 100% sure it would help? Nope, but she hoped it would.

Did you ever practice birth-control? Well, you know that no birth control method is 100% right? Maybe you hoped it worked? (If it didn't work, I hope it all turned out for the best.)

So, hope, yes, hope. That's where I am today. I hope the vaccine works. That's what I got. Am I 100% sure? Nope, but I hope!

If they tell us to wear the damn masks, will I? Well, I won't like it, but yes, I will - just to try to push that "Hope Factor" closer to 100%!

(Side bar: with the masks... if a business asks you to wear a mask - wear it or turn around and leave. DO NOT argue with the person informing you of the requirement. It's usually not their call. They're just doing their job. Relax!)

Yes, we live in a free country.... I know your freedoms are important to you. We're also living in a society. In a society, you try to get along with other people. Empathy, understanding, and respect go a long way in a society.
