New Jersey State Police are asking for your help with information about a shooting that happened early Sunday, July 12, when a 13-year old boy was shot three times in a car in the westbound lanes near exit 7-S of the Atlantic City Expressway.

The boy was found inside of a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck. He was treated at the scene before being taken to the hospital where he was last listed in critical but stable condition.

Details are sketchy, but police say that total of seven shots were fired from an unidentified passing vehicle about 4am in the westbound lanes of the Atlantic City Expressway.

It is believed the shooter's vehicle exited the Expressway at exit 7S to the Garden State Parkway southbound.

Several questions immediately occur to me. Why was a 13-year old boy in a car on the Expressway at 4am? Who was driving the car? What, if anything, does the boy say?

State Police aren't giving those answers, but we do have a request for help with this very serious incident. Can you help police with any information?

Here is the State Police press release concerning this shooting with more details and contact information if you can help.
