Just yesterday, I saw a picture Tom Hanks and I thought to myself, "Wow, it looks like he lost some weight."  Well, now we know that he's been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

Tom Hanks stopped by the 'Late Show with David Letterman' on Monday night and the host asked the actor about his weight loss.

According to Good Morning America,

"The legendary actor, 57, admitted that he has been dealing with high blood sugar since he was 36, around the time he made "Forrest Gump," and recently got some startling news during a doctor's visit.

His doctor told him, "Well, you've graduated. You've got Type 2 diabetes, young man."

Evidently, his doctor told Hanks that if he could get down to his high school weight then, essentially, he wouldn't have diabetes anymore.

He joked,

"Well, I am going to have Type 2 diabetes."

Type 2 diabetes is the most common form and it makes up about 90% of all diabetes cases.  It can usually be managed by exercise and improved diet.
