Two brothers that are already serving life sentences in federal prison were sentenced on Wednesday for the murder of an Atlantic City man in 2013.

Mykal and Malik Derry, both of Atlantic City, were sentenced to 50 years in state prison to be served concurrently to their federal life sentences for the murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the 2013 shooting death of 25-year-old Tyquinn James.

In a press release, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said, "These convictions and sentences demonstrate my office’s commitment to pursuing justice for every family that is a victim of violent crime in Atlantic County. The senseless murder of Tyquinn James was callous and calculated. We are all safer knowing that Mykal and Malik Derry will never terrorize the streets of Atlantic City again."

The shooting happened on the corner of Adriatic and South Carolina Avenues in Atlantic City on the evening of February 10, 2013. According to the prosecutor's office, James was shot three times, once in the back and twice in the head.
