Let me just say I love the Harry Potter films as much as the next person, however when it comes to the creator of this wizard world I have a less than favorable opinion of her. I hear the furious typing from Potterheads as they are already thinking of ways to tell me I am wrong. I get it, I too get up in arms when someone bashes something I love. However, twice this week J.K. Rowling has come up in conversation which led to a very passionate rant by me. My thought process is that if I write it out I will feel less angry when I hear the name J.K. Rowling.

To me, J.K. Rowling is the living embodiment of beating a dead horse. I know people continuously feed into the Harry Potter universe and continue to buy into everything she releases about Millenials' favorite wizard, but that doesn't make it any less infuriating. Rather than coming up with new ideas, she keeps falling back to the boy who lived.

I have seen all of the Harry Potter movies, however I never finished the book series. I read books 1-3, but could never get through Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I've tried numerous times to do it, but just can't. I find it terribly drawn out and boring. I left school early to see the second movie, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and have read my fair share of Oliver Wood fanfiction. I loved A Very Potter Musical. I am a fan of the series, just not a Potterhead. My feelings towards J.K. are confined to her, not the series.

Every so often J.K. gets on Twitter, or her website Pottermore, and releases brand new information about the Harry Potter world. She has written numerous books and blog posts continuing on within this world. At what point does it become excessive? How long can you ride the same train before it becomes monotonous? It sometimes feels like J.K. gets bored and thinks, what random fact can I come up with today.

What I find interesting about Potterheads is they live for the down right excessive nature of J.K. While Star Wars fans are worries that Disney is going to over saturate the market with all things Star Wars, Potterheads continuously want more. I understand the notion of giving the people what they want. However, will she ever reach a point where she has over saturated the market so much that the original books and movies lose the special quality about them?

I hate comparing her to Stephenie Meyer, author of the Twilight series, because while Twilight was extremely popular it never hit the same level as Harry Potter. With that being said, Stephenie Meyer flooded the market for a few years, then quietly stepped aside. J.K. has been riding this out for over 20 years...
