2014 has been a rough year for Atlantic City, with several casinos closing their doors, but, could a new casino be opening up in early 2015?

NBC10 in Philadelphia is reporting that owner of the Chelsea Hotel in Atlantic City says he wants to open a new small casino at his hotel once a bill makes its way through the state legislature.

"Curtis Bashaw says his 330-room hotel would be a perfect spot for one of two new so-called "boutique casinos" envisioned by a plan making its way through the state legislature.

The bill would ease standards set by a 2011 law authorizing casino hotels with as few as 200 rooms.

The new casino would be the first to open in Atlantic City since the ill-fated Revel debuted in April 2012, only to close less than two years later. A court hearing aimed at finding a buyer for Revel is scheduled for Friday."
