A Salmonella Scare Has Led To a Massive Boxed Cake Recall
If you bought boxed cake mix over the weekend with intentions of having a baking session one night this week, just hold the phone really quick.
NJ.com reports that Duncan Hines has issued a recall on their boxed cake products due to several reported cases of salmonella. Yuck!
Eggs, milk, flour, and cheese ridden with bacteria are normally the main culprits in the development of salmonella. If infected, the CDC says you could be dealing with symptoms including but not limited to fever, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea.
Salmonella is particularly dangerous if found in young children and elderly folks due to their weakened immune systems.
The NJ.com article lists all the boxes that are currently under a recall warning along with the corresponding expiration dates, but to be on the safe side it's probably best to just throw away all their boxed products with a 2019 expiration.
After all, it's better to be safe than sorry, right?
