It’s hard to believe after 2020 lasted for 38 years, but 2021 is already half over. Half over! Summer movie season is back in full swing with F9 and Black Widow in theaters, and the fall release calendar is already filling up with potential awards contenders.

While the first half of 2021 was hampered by the lingering effects of the coronavirus pandemic, it still produced a lot more entertaining movies — both at home and on streaming — than the first half of 2020.
