Atlantic City, New Jersey, Police & Fire Department Promotions

The New Jersey Department of Civil Service granted approval at 12:00 noon (today) and by 4:00 p.m., Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small was officially making promotions within both the police and fire departments.

Small has succeeded in restoring a significant number of police and fire department staff — as both departments suffered crippling staffing cuts during Chris Christie’s time as Governor of New Jersey.

These Promotions Are Essential

For example, The Atlantic City Police Department will now have four deputy chief’s — which will allow Chief Jim Sarkos to re-organize his senior leadership team to provide good order for the Atlantic City Police Department.

Additionally, 23 officers were sworn-in, (in total), including 3 Class II Officers, who have been promoted to full-time.

Mayor Small administered the oath of office to the following officers:

Deputy Chiefs Alexus Zeilinger and Daniel Corcoran; Captains Charles Stuart and Frank Timek; Lieutenants John Sharkey, Gary Holmes, Valmir Loga, Brian Shapiro, Owen Ingenito, Christopher LoDico, Joseph Rauch and Robert Dessicino; Sergeants Michael Gunnser, Kevin Perez, Danish Mohammad, Mark Flanigan, Eric Oneill-Knuttel, James Eckert, Ivaylo Ivanov and Wahab Malik; and Police Officers Nicolas Calambas, Xavier Hernandez and Shivanshu Khanna.
