
Stockton Poll: New Jersey Voters Support Artificial Intelligence Ban
A Stockton University poll appears to support the growing trend in America and in New Jersey … that artificial intelligence will make lives worse.
By The Numbers — The Stockton University Poll Yields The Following:
- 74 percent of voters believe that artificial intelligence will eliminate more jobs than it will create.
- Only 7 percent believe that artificial intelligence will create more jobs than it eliminates.
- A stunning 41 percent believe that artificial intelligence will make their lives worse.
- 27 percent believe that artificial intelligence will make their lives better.
Note: There is a 5 percent increase in the number of voters who believe that artificial intelligence will make their lives worse — 2024 vs. 2026.
The rate was 36 percent in a 2024 Stockton poll of New Jersey residents vs. 41 percent in the 2026 survey.
Stockton University Poll Shows Support To Ban Artificial Intelligence Local Data Centers
According to the latest Stockton poll, 56 percent of New Jersey voters would support a data center ban in their home town.
The breakdown is:
- 64 percent of Democrats support a local ban.
- 46 percent of Republicans support a local ban.
- 54 percent of Independents support a local ban.

Methodology
The poll of 642 registered voters was sponsored and conducted by the Hughes Center for Public Policy from April 21-27. The poll’s margin of error is +/- 3.9 percentage points.
