South Jersey Teacher Charged Following Alleged Sexual Relationship With Student
A South Jersey high school teacher has been arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student.
26-year-old Jason D. Howe of Runnemede is charged with second-degree sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Prosecutors Detail Alleged Incident
The Camden County Prosecutor's Office says last Friday, April 3rd, they were notified by a local police department that a female student, who was at least 16 but less than 18 years old, reported having a sexual relationship with a teacher.
During the investigation, detectives determined Howe and the victim engaged in sexual intercourse at his apartment in Runnemede in March 2026.
Howe was taken into custody in Runnemede that day and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility, pending a detention hearing next week.
Teacher and Coach Suspended
Howe was employed as a chemistry teacher at Sterling High School in Somerdale, Camden County, where he also coached boys and girls cross country, freshman boys basketball, and assisted with coaching girls' spring track. The school district has suspended him and banned him from school property.
Authorities say the aforementioned student is the only victim identified in this matter; however, if additional allegations are reported, they will be investigated. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Todd Jarrell at (856) 225-8479.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
