A man from Cape May County has admitted to sexually assaulting his niece in 2021.

On Tuesday, 33-year-old Taron Thomas of Ocean View pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree sexual assault on a minor.

His plea calls for a sentence of 10 years in state prison with an 8.5-year period of parole in eligibility, he must register as a Megan's Law offender, and will be under parole supervision for life.

Thomas admitted during his plea colloquy that in April of 2021, he "committed an act of sexual penetration on his 14-year-old niece" at her home in Galloway Township.

This case was investigated by the Galloway Township Police Department.

Sentencing is scheduled for September 19th pending an evaluation at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center.
