New ShopRite Location One Step Closer to Coming to Atlantic City, New Jersey
It's hard to believe that Atlantic City has been without a big chain grocery store for more than 15 years. Residents have to head to Ventnor or Brigantine if they want to shop at a full-fledged supermarket.

That could change in the very near future as the Press of Atlantic City reports that plans to finalize a deal for the new supermarket are up for a vote which will take place on September 2nd.
Bringing in a new supermarket to the resort town has been in the works since 2018. COVID-19 has been a factor in slowing and delaying the proposed project.
Final site plans have been submitted to The Casino Reinvestment Development by Village Supremarket Inc. The new 44,000 square foot store will be located at Baltic and Indiana Avenue and will also have a 235-space parking lot.
Village Supermarkets own 26 Shop Locations in the Garden Stae. South Jersey locations include Absecon, Hammonton, Marmora, Rio Grande, and Somers Point.
There are 322 ShopRite locations in the United States and 184 locations in the Garden State. I'm sure many residents of Atlantic City are looking forward to finally having a full-service supermarket finally opening up in their neighborhood!
