NORTHVALE — A 23-year-old electrician has been charged with chatting with underage girls online and getting them to send him nude and sexually explicit photos.

Ronald S. Rovito Jr. was arrested at home Wednesday following an investigation in which Bergen County prosecutors said revealed that Rovito had downloaded and shared images of child sexual exploitation.

Prosecutors say that parents should check their children's phones or computers for evidence that they may have communicated with Rovito.

Prosecutors said they found evidence that Rovito had downloaded about 390 pornographic images of pubescent and prepubescent children through social media and file-sharing app using the screen names buyingnudes2019, whoop_w and ncruzan.

Prosecutors said that if their children have chatted online with someone who used these names, parents should contact Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Cyber Crimes Unit at 201-226-5518.

Investigators say Rovito used a fake identity to chat with at least two underage girls.

He is charged with second-degree possession of more than 25 files of child pornography, third-degree possession of more than 100 files of child pornography, and third-degree child endangerment.
