Wait, let me rephrase that.

How about someone else's pool, where that someone else actually gives you permission?

Believe it or not there's actually a way for you to rent private backyard pools at private homes in your area.

(Think of it like this - you can enjoy a beautiful pool without all the pain-in-the-you-know-whats that come with it: Like a big mortgage, taxes, and maintenance.)

Swimply is a web-site/app/thingy that allows you to book your own time in other people's pools.

Cool right?

Weird? Well, kinda....

Swimply has been around a few years, and there are actually a few listings in our area!

Swimply is set up like VRBO Vacation Rentals.... you look for what you want, reserve it and make your payment, then show up and enjoy!

The only thing different, is that you're renting the pool and not the house.

(Question: As you're swimming in their pool, are the owners home, staring at you through the blinds? Kinda, weird, right? Told ya.....)

Apparently you can rent a pool for any kind of thing your like...swimming, a photo shoots, a family get-together, even a pet-swim. (Again, maybe kinda weird.)

So, let's check out what you can rent right now. I did a quick search, and here's what I found:

You can rent this beautiful pool and backyard in Egg Harbor Township:

How much? $100 an hour.

You can instantly book for up to 5 guests right now.

Most of the pools have a maximum number of people that can be using their pool. Obviously, no one want a big out-of-control party in their backyard. A mass social-media-invite party is definitely and no-no.

Oh, wait. There is something that you should know before jumping in and renting this pool.

This is probably important.

It's this line on the rental page:

"This Host has not provided information regarding bathroom availability."

Um, but what if you have to go?

The rental page does not say if there is a Wawa nearby.

OK, let's move on to this pool in Galloway Township:

This pool is a little cheaper - just $60 an hour ($30 and hour if you blow up 50 beach balls while you're there.....LOL)

You can also have up to 20 guests!

Wait! There is a bathroom available! Woohoo!

By the way, Swimply does have a long set of rules about liabilities and risks, but if you're the homeowner, what does renting your pool out to strangers do for your homeowner's policy? It's got to jump, right?

Here's one more pool in the area, in West Tuckerton.

This "Private Oasis Retreat" will cost you $100 per hour, and you can entertain a total of 20 guests. For the love of Pete, NO INFANTS!
