Commence argument that Taylor Swift was never really country...

Now that we got that out of the way.

Last week was a big week for Taylor Swift. She won a CMA for song of the year with "Better Man" and her new album reputation dropped on Friday. She straddled the pop and country line, getting a nod from her country roots while living in her pop present.

This made me think, could Taylor ever return to country music?

When I think of Taylor and her move to pop, my brain immediately goes to Faith Hill and Shania Twain. During the height of their career they were heavily influenced by pop music and had quite a few hits on top 40 radio.

I can hear the cringing from so many people reading this.

Taylor made a huge impact on country music when she was a part of the genre. A young singer-songwriter from Pennsylvania that spoke to the younger generation of country fans. She wrote songs like "Tear Drops on My Guitar" and "Our Song" which spoke to middle and high school girls. She was the relatable one.

Fast forward to 2012 with her album RED, where Taylor began her transition in pop. Although the album was sold as country, many would argue that RED was pure pop. 2014 saw the official move to pop music for Taylor with 1989.

This year Taylor released reputation which is edgy and very far from her country roots.

Could Taylor ever come back?

My answer is yes.

Down the road Taylor may very well make her way back to country and I think the country music would welcome her back with open arms. I know many people would disagree with me. Taylor is one of the smartest and most savvy artists in the music industry. She is her brand and she knows how to market that brand. If Taylor decided to maker her way back to country, her fans would follow without any hesitation.

I am not saying I think Taylor will be coming back to country in the near future, but it would not shock me if she does transition back to country down the road.

What do you think?
