Another former Atlantic City Housing Authority employee is taken into custody on theft and official misconduct charges. 62-year-old Marvin Royal of Pleasantville, a retired housing manager for the Jeffries Towers, turned himself in Wednesday morning on one count of theft by deception and one count of third-degree official misconduct for using his tax-exempt I-D card to make personal purchases at an electronics store.

The Atlantic County Prosecutors office says Royal allegedly purchased a laptop and software for his personal use using the tax exempt card to avoid paying the sales tax at a Best Buy Store in Mays Landing on September 29, 2011.

Royal, accompanied by his attorney, turned himself in to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, where he was processed and released on a summons. The charges he faces carries a three to five year prison term if convicted.  No mandatory sentence is required.

He retired from the ACHA on February 1st, 2012.
