So you had all good intentions of maintaining your healthy eating plan at the party, but those chocolate chip cookies looked so good and that cheesecake was calling your name.  Then it was followed by, "Oh well I blew it now, so what’s the point?" There is a better way to handle that according to Registered Dietian Keri Gans and author of The Small Change Diet.  

She says, don't panic. Overeating happens to the best of us. The most important thing is to get yourself back on track—which means not skipping meals or continuing down the wrong path. don’t be discouraged. Try figure out why you went off the rails. Did you stand too close to the appetizer table and keep picking as you chatted, did you go to the party hungry?  Come to terms with yourself and regain focus on your mission.     Eat Breakfast

    Even if you overdid it the night before, make sure you start the day with breakfast. It helps in getting your metabolism revved up and it mentally prepares you for eating healthy the rest of the day.

    So important to drink waters since it helps you feel full and you won't be tempted to keep overeating.

    Get Your Greens at Lunch

    Eat a healthy salad for lunch. The water in the veggies will help hydrate you and take away that stuffed, tired feeling.

    Have A Snack

    It's important to keep your metabolism up so you don't suddenly crash and begin another overeating session. Try a small handful of almonds and piece of fruit.

    Be The Chef

    If you had plans to go out, opt for cooking at home instead.  Make clean foods, like a piece of broiled fish with roasted veggies and a whole grain like quinoa or barley. They'll give you great filling nutrients without all the processing.  When you can cook at home, you control the ingredients.

    Nothing helps a food hangover better than a good . Even a light yoga class or lifting some easy weights will make you feel much better.
