Peter Turnpu was a veteran of the Vietnam War, but had no family to speak of at the time of his death.

LP Wooster Funeral Home in Atco put out a request asking for anyone who was available to attend the service and burial to show respect for the former serviceman, who passed away on December 9th at the age of 77, according to Gloucester Township Patch.

In Turnpu's obituary, Wooster wrote, "The public is invited to honor a Vietnam Veteran with no known family at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery".

The VA reportedly provided a military honor guard for the services.

As the daughter of a Vietnam vet, I'm personally so grateful that the funeral home's plea was noticed and not ignored. If I had seen the obituary sooner, I would surely have gone to pay my respects, and to silently than Peter for his service to our country.
