Some sad news out of Chicago this afternoon, Harold Ramis was surrounded by his family when he passed away early this morning.

According to the Chicago Tribune,

"Ramis, a longtime North Shore resident, was surrounded by family when he died at 12:53 a.m. from complications of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, a rare disease that involves swelling of the blood vessels, his wife Erica Mann Ramis said. He was 69."

Ramis was best known for acting, directing and writing for films such as 'Ghostbusters,' 'Groundhog Day' and 'Caddyshack.'

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
