It's not surprising to hear that South Jersey's a great place to take up an interest in sea life. After all, we've got so many beaches to explore along our coastline that the learning potential is endless.

Stockton University is one of the only colleges in the state to offer a marine biology course of study. Luckily enough, there are plenty of places in this region for students to put their education into action. Now that the new school year's underway, students will be on the hunt for them for both the fall and spring semesters.

According to their Facebook page, South Jersey's Marine Mammal Stranding Center based in Brigantine, just north of Atlantic City, is currently accepting applications for their internship program. Students are encouraged to apply for the program which would begin this upcoming spring semester (January 2022).

If you're unfamiliar with the MMSC, students will get hands-on experience working with all forms of sea animals in crisis. In fact, the latest case shared by the MMSC involved a deceased whale that washed up on the shores of Barnegat Light. Imagine being a student of marine biology and getting the chance to study something like that.

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center will be accepting applications for their Tech Assistants program through mid-October. Any students interested in applying are being encouraged to visit the website HERE.
