It’s Red Nose Day!
Happy Red Nose Day! What is that, you may ask? Well it's a day when everyone walks around wearing big red noses to help raise awareness, and help support kids in poverty. And here's how you an help:
DONATE! What does your donation do, you may ask? Well, the money raised through social media supports projects that ensure kids are safe, healthy, educated, and empowered. The funds provide meals, vaccines, clean water, education, and safe places to learn and sleep.
Red Nose Day funds programs in all 50 states and in some of the poorest communities in Latin America, Asia and Africa. Through the power of entertainment, social media sharing, and donation; Red Nose Day raises awareness and money to help the kids who need us most.
According to nj.com's 2014 survey, over 1M people in New Jersey live in poverty, majority of that number being children under the age of 18. As of 2017, that number has gone up to 1.2 million households in our state, struggling to make ends meet.
With that being said, the mission is to end child poverty. And with every Red Nose Day that passes, we as a country get closer to reaching that goal. In the last 25 years we’ve raised over $1 billion globally.
And get this, so many celebs get involved too to help spread the word. Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, and our very own Blake Shelton!
Those are just a few of MANY. But get this, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation are getting involved too, and this year, they will match every dollar raised through Facebook up to $1 Million!
That's amazing!
