Popular Product Sold at BJ’s Wholesale Club in New Jersey Recalled, Here’s What Shoppers Need to Know
If you've been to BJ’s Wholesale Club recently and tossed a bag of salmon into your cart, you may want to pause and check your freezer.

There’s a recall affecting one specific lot of frozen Wellsley Farms Farm-Raised Atlantic Salmon, and yes, it includes stores here in New Jersey.
Here’s What Happened
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration shared that Slade Gorton & Co., Inc. is pulling back a single production lot after concerns it could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Now, I know recalls can start to feel routine, but this one matters. Listeria isn’t something to brush off. It can cause serious illness, especially for pregnant women, older adults, young children, and anyone with a weakened immune system. Symptoms can feel like the flu at first, fever, aches, stomach issues, but it can become much more serious.
What To Look For In Your Freezer
This recall does not apply to all salmon, just one specific lot.
Check for:
Wellsley Farms Farm-Raised Atlantic Salmon
2-pound frozen bags
UPC: 888670025963
Lot number: 3896
You’ll find the lot number printed below the cooking instructions and Nutrition Facts panel on the back.
The product was sold in seven states, including New Jersey, so local shoppers should definitely double-check.
What You Should Do
If you find that exact bag in your freezer, don’t cook it. Don’t taste it. Don’t “see if it smells okay.” Just don’t risk it.
Bring it back to BJ’s for a refund. If you have questions about returns or disposal, you can call 1-888-628-0730 anytime for guidance, according to the fda.gov.
A Quick Freezer Check Is Worth It
I know, digging through the freezer isn’t exactly how anyone wants to spend their evening. But this is one of those “better safe than sorry” moments. It takes less than a minute to check the UPC and lot number.
