Millville, NJ, Native Buddy Kennedy back in the big leagues

Millville High School Alum Buddy Kennedy is back in the big leagues.

The 2017 Millville graduate got the call on Saturday from the Detroit Tigers, joining the team in Minnesota against the Twins.

He went 0-0 with a walk in his only plate appearance.

On Sunday, he's in the starting lineup,  playing second base and batting sixth, behind former Phillies utility man Matt Vierling.

Update: Kennedy went yard in his first game back to tje bags, hitting a 2-Run home run in the third inning.

He ended the game with 3 RBI and a home run in a 6-1 Tigers win.

After being drafted in the fifth-round of the 2017 MLB Draft, Kennedy made his Major League debut with the team that drafted him, Arizona in 2022.

In 50 games with the D-Backs, Kennedy batted .206 with a homer and 13 RBIs.

Since hia time in Arizona, he has spent time with three organizations, Oakland, St. Louis and now Detroit.

Here is what Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said about Kennedy when Detroit signed him.

"He's a nice player," Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told the Detroit Free Press. "He can move around the field a little bit. He's got a track record of playing good defense and controlling the zone, hitting lefties. There are a lot of things to like about Buddy, and now there's some uncertainty with Lip."

In 15 games at Triple-A Toledo, Kennedy is hitting .288 with two home runs, nine RBI with seven doubles and 13 runs scored.

At Millville as a senior, Kennedy caught the attention of teams after hitting .493 with six home runs as a senior, getting selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the fifth round.
