New Jersey jobs on the line as national retail chain makes decision
After the initial post-pandemic job market boom, many professional industries have seen a significant slowdown in hiring. While experts have different opinions on why the jobs' market has stagnated in 2025, the one thing we do know is that inflation is still an issue, and this is impacting many people in the United States.
While the Manufacturing Industry has "hit a slump", and construction employment has decreased at the end of 2025, leaving many employees in a weaker financial position at the start of 2026 compared to 12 months ago, according to economic analysts.
This National Retailer is cutting hundreds of jobs in New Jersey
According to a memo that has been obtained by multiple media outlets, Target's upper management has announced they are going to eliminate 500 jobs as part of their consolidation plan to elevate "the guest experience."
The claim is to "reduce complexity" by eliminating redundancy in store districts across the United States. Target says they are "reallocating money" from the elimination of certain corporate roles in order to give in-store employees more hours and better pay.
But these job cuts will impact employees in New Jersey; Reports state that Target will eliminate 107 jobs in The Garden State. These are the counties that are expected to be impacted by the job cuts:
*Burlington
*Gloucester
*Middlesex
*Monmouth
There are some online outlets that claim that New Jersey's high taxes, and federal inflation rates are to blame for their job cuts by Target. Whatever the "reasons" are, the reality is that over 100 New Jerseyseans are expected to loose their jobs, and that is still a problem.
