A popular Asbury Park bar and restaurant on the boardwalk abruptly closed its doors on Monday, making the announcement on social media and its website.

Stella Marina was located at 800 Ocean Ave on the boardwalk for 17 years, but announced it would be closing, thanking people for the memories, support, and love.

A Sudden Goodbye to 17 Years of Memories

“With heavy hearts, we announce the closing of our doors. It has been a true privilege to serve the Asbury Park community over the past several years. We are deeply grateful to our incredible staff, loyal customers, friends, and community supporters who made Stella such a special destination on the beach. Asbury Park, thank you for the memories, the support, and the love.”

There was plenty of reaction from fans of the restaurant on social media with people talking about great food and drinks, good times an plenty of appreciation for their time on the boardwalk. The oceanfront Italian restaurant had tremendous views of the  Atlantic Ocean, making it a popular spot for dinner and drinks.

It's interesting that they closed so early in 2026, after posting around Christmas that they look forward to another year together in 2026.

From our kitchen to your table, we hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.
We’re grateful for another year together and look forward to 2026 at Stella Marina.

While no replacement for the spot has been named, there have been some rumors that something new will be taking over the building.
