Allegiant Air To Atlantic City, NJ — What You Can Expect [Photos]
We flew Allegiant Air from Orlando, Florida to Atlantic City, New Jersey, yesterday for the first time.
On late notice, we had to get back early from our mini Disney World visit … because we did not want to miss our grandson’s (Noah) two on stage performances this weekend.
Spirit Air did not have a flight that would get us back home in time. Allegiant Air did via Sanford Orlando International Airport.
This would allow us to try two new experiences at one time … Allegiant Air and Sanford Orlando International Airport.
Sanford Orlando International Airport
This was also our first experience at Sanford Orlando International Airport.
We have been flying in and out of Orlando International Airport for nearly 50 years.
Great Experience At Sanford Orlando International Airport
I now overwhelmingly prefer Sanford to Orlando International Airport.
It’s a 45-minute car ride from Disney World area to Sanford versus about 25 minutes to Orlando International.
It’s well worth the extra time to Sanford. There’s no massive TSA crowds. There’s no train ride to your Gate.
At Sanford, you just walk-in and up the escalator and you’re right at TSA.
Your walk to the gate is very short.
Sanford Feels Like Atlantic City International Airport
Sanford is much bigger, but, it has that same easy to manage ACY vibe.
Sanford has a small town feel and the staff were very nice and hospitable.
Allegiant Air Performance
I was very impressed with Allegiant Air. They are organized and they board the plane as follows;
- Any passengers needing assistance board first.
- Military, followed by 1st Class.
- From here, they do it quite differently. They board from the rear of the plane to the front … about 4 rows at a time.
We only had 40 passengers on our plane. The staff commented on the plane that service to Atlantic City is new and that it is starting to catch on.
Bird Strike
Through no fault of their own, this was the only bummer we faced. It’s the second time that I have experienced this before take off.
On the immediate previous flight, our plane was struck by a bird.
This requires an inspection to determine that the equipment is safe to fly. That’s a good thing.
It delayed our take off from 3:15 p.m. to 3:57 p.m. This delay prevented us from getting to Noah’s Ocean City High School talent show on time.
Thankfully, the flight was only 1 hour and 43 minutes. We were only 15 minutes late to “Ocean City’s Got Talent.”
Had the bird strike not occurred, we would have arrived at ACY 30 minutes early.
The little Things
Our Allegiant Air 737 Max Jet looked brand new.
They have a USB and charging port on the back of each headrest. It’s a convenient and helpful item.
Grateful For New Allegiant Air Service To Atlantic City
Without it, we would not have been able to return home in time to make priceless family memories.
Noah’s two performances were scheduled after my wife Margie and had already booked our Disney World getaway.
They also got me back in time to get back to work with the significant winter storm “Fern that is about to rock New Jersey tomorrow.
We will definitely fly Allegiant Air, again in the future, whenever possible.
We will fly to and from Sanford International (especially) on our way back home … because this will allow us to use ACY for our departure and Sanford for our return flight, which I consider to be a big win.
