
Police: Youngest Suspect in Mt. Laurel, NJ, Car Break-in Just 11 Years Old
- Five kids, ages 11 to 16, allegedly broke into a Kia Soul in Mt. Laurel
- Police say the car’s handle and ignition were damaged
- All five were arrested and later released to adults
Five Kids Charged in Mt. Laurel Car Break-in
Five kids, all 16 years old and younger, have been charged with allegedly breaking into a car in Burlington County this past weekend.
The Mt. Laurel Police Department says that at about 10:15 this past Sunday night, their officers were called to the 100 block of Centerton Road after someone saw five juveniles break into a Kia Soul before they fled the area.
Arriving officers found the suspects on Centerton Road.
Police say their investigation revealed that the Kia's driver's side door handle had been broken off and the ignition column was ripped out.
The juveniles were all placed under arrest and authorities say one of the juveniles was found to be carrying a flat-head screwdriver.
Juveniles Charged
They are facing the following charges:
- Juvenile, age 11, attempted vehicle burglary
- Juvenile, age 13, attempted vehicle burglary, refusal to submit to fingerprinting
- Juvenile, age 14, attempted vehicle burglary
- Juvenile, age 14, attempted vehicle burglary
- Juvenile, age 16, attempted vehicle burglary, possession of burglary tools
All five were released to a parent or guardian.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
