The 2025 Atlantic County, New Jersey crime story is a much improved upon one. Leading the way was the proactivity of the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department and the Atlantic City Police Department.
Along with many other Atlantic County police departments, 2025 results for law enforcement was notable.
Various Law Enforcement Agencies Must Work Together
The Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department and all 23 municipalities are all working together. It's a total team effort in law enforcement.

Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Has Compiled The 2025 Data
A very large majority of our cases originate with local police officers who put themselves in harm's way every day to protect our communities. Our detectives and assistant prosecutors then build and prosecute those cases with precision and integrity, said the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office in a prepared statement on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
Safest Year On Record?
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office has declared 2015 as the “Safest year on record.”
2025 Crime Statistics
- Homicides declined 50 percent from 2024 to 2025, falling from 16 to 8, with a 100 percent homicide clearance rate achieved in 2025.
- Non-fatal shootings were also reduced by 50 percent, from 28 to 14 incidents, while the clearance rate for those shootings increased to 86 percent.
- Total shootings declined by approximately 69 percent, decreasing from 45 incidents in 2021 to 14 in 2025.
- Over the same period, clearance rates increased from 62 percent to 86 percent.
Atlantic County Prosecutor Will Reynolds
Violent crime was reduced by using Bail Reform as a public safety tool, said Reynolds. The credit belongs to our Assistant Prosecutors and Detectives, who successfully detained the most violent offenders at a rate of 47 percent, compared to the state average of 18 percent. Atlantic County leads the state in detaining the most dangerous individuals, and the results are clear, said Reynolds.

These numbers represent lives saved and families spared unimaginable loss, said Reynolds.
