Atlantic City Mayor Brags About Tax Decrease

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small has delivered 6 consecutive budgets which all have featured a tax decrease.

To be fair, there’s no magic here. Small is applying millions of dollars of taxpayer surplus funds to pay for the tax decreases over the years.

The Atlantic City budget keeps going up each and every year.

Surplus Funds Used

Atlantic City taxpayers will see a  3.4-cent municipal property tax rate decrease, according to Small.

It’s hard to complain about a tax decrease. However, a member of the state local finance buses — Robert Jackson — voted against the budget and warned about future tax increases.

Atlantic City Mayor Is On The Ballot

Small is running for re-election on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. It’s always a plus to be able to say that you’ve lowered the tax rate 6 years in-a-row.

Atlantic City Mayor Will Also Be On Criminal Trial

The state of New Jersey did Small a big political favor. They are purposely holding back Marty Small’s criminal trial until 6 days after Election Day.

Small is charged with:

  • second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
  • third-degree Terroristic Threats.
  • third-degree Aggravated Assault.
  • witness tampering.

A Plea Bargain Deal For Small? Nope!

Marty Small has confirmed that he was offered a deal that would mean no jail time. However, Small would have to resign his position as Mayor and he forever barred from holding public employment, or, elective office.

Public employment is almost all that Small has ever known.

Small rejected the plea deal. His trial is set to begin on November 10, 2025.

The La’Quetta Small criminal trial is set to begin on December 1, 2025. La’Quetta Small formally motioned to separate her trial from her husband, Marty Small.
