As hundreds of thousands of people across the Garden State are unemployed and struggling to make ends meet, pets sometimes get caught in the middle as families struggle to put food on the table.

If you find yourself in such a situation, help is available this weekend.

The South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter at 1244 N. Delsea Drive in Vineland will be holding a large-scale pet food giveaway this Saturday, May 30th, from noon to 2:00.

The Daily Journal reports anyone can drive-up and have dog or cat food placed in their vehicle. A limited amount of pet supplies will also be available to anyone who may need them.

Note that while the event is scheduled to run until 2:00 Saturday, it may end sooner if supplies run out, according to the group's Facebook page.

Should you wish to make a contribution to The South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter so they can continue programs like this or to support the animals in their care, you can do so in numerous ways through their website.

The South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter is a decades-old organization that helps pets up for adoption find a forever home, offers spaying and neutering services, and reunites lost pets with their owners.
