Two people on a motorcycle were seriously hurt in a crash involving an SUV late Monday night in Camden County.

The accident happened around 11:00 in front of 425 Woodbury-Turnersville Rd. in Gloucester Township, the location of Elmwood Hills Healthcare Center.

Officers at the scene arrived to find a motorcycle upright with its front protruding into the engine compartment of an SUV. Two riders on the motorcycle were thrown from the bike.

The pair was taken to Cooper Hospital's trauma unit in Camden with serious injuries. There were no reported injuries to those in the SUV and all occupants refused treatment.

Woodbury-Turnersville Rd. was closed for about two hours as the scene was cleared.

The Gloucester Township Police Department's Serious Crash Investigation Team determined that the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Woodbury-Turnersville Rd. when the SUV attempted to make a left turn into 425 Woodbury-Turnersville Rd., in front of the motorcycle, causing the crash.

Authorities say there were signs the driver of the motorcycle attempted to avoid the SUV but was unable to.

The names of those involved have not been released as the crash remains under investigation; no charges have been filed.
