South Jersey’s ‘Christmas Vacation’ House is Back
This South Jersey house would make Clark Griswold proud. The Mickleton home will bring you some Christmas cheer in the form of 300 strands of lights. Steve Harbaugh, the homeowner and man behind this spectacular display, is making this "...the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny [redacted] Kaye."
According to CBS Philly, Harbaugh usually pulls out all the stops for Christmas, but this year's display is even more spectacular. The house features 7,500 bulbs, a decked out RV, Eddie draining the septic tank with moving arm, and Clark hanging from the gutter. The attention to detail is astounding. Last year, Harbaugh went with the National Lampoon's: Christmas Vacation theme as well, but with the 30th anniversary of the movie this year is even more special.
How long does something like this take? Harbaugh did have some help from a professional and it took them a week to decorate the house and another week to do the RV.
While your eyes may be drawn the the twinkling lights, Harbaugh wants the focus to be on the RV, more specifically what's inside. The goal is to fill the RV with donations which will go to Toys For Tots. As of Friday, there were over 200 donations.
The street has seen its fair share of traffic since the light display was set up. The neighbors of course have an opinion on the house. Harbaugh told CBS Philly, "Neighbors call me Clark and tell me to turn the lights out so they can go to sleep." Hopefully they handle it better than the Griswold's neighbors did.
You can visit the house at 503 Legends Court in Mickleton. Harbaugh just asks that you bring an unwrapped toy to fill up Eddie's RV for Toys For Tots.
