In December 2022 we began reporting about the deplorable condition of various Atlantic City, New Jersey roadways.

First, we published photos of the 2400 block of Atlantic Avenue, comparing the road conditions to the surface of the moon.

At the time, Atlantic City Council President George Tibbitt advised that this road was not scheduled to be resurfaced until February 2024.

That timeframe was obviously unacceptable and so we aggressively published about the poor condition of this road.

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small addressed it within a few weeks.

Here’s what this same street looks now like after being resurfaced. It represents a very big improvement and it didn’t have to wait until February 2024.

Following this series of articles, we found out about a neighborhood on Richmond Avenue in Chelsea Heights, where residents did their own creative fix of a massive pothole.

The residents actually placed a fully decorated Christmas Tree inside the pothole. We thought it was a creative and fun temporary solution for the holidays.

Here is a photo of their great work. You’ve got to give credit to the residents for including a tree skirt and a Santa tree topper. This community effort will long be remembered.

Again, we give credit, where credit is due. Here is this same street, in a Don P. Hurley photo, which was taken this morning.

The expression that you can’t fight City Hall should be retired. In its place, when constructive criticism is offered … results such as this are possible.
