Workers are putting some finishing touches on a new dog park in Vineland.

Fences were installed last week at the corner of Lincoln Ave. and Laurel Rd. marking a new dog-friendly rec area at Giampietro Park, reports The Daily Journal.

The space is the first of its kind in Vineland, something that was brought to life thanks in part to the town's Mayor Anthony Fanucci.

Fanucci told TDJ the dog park comes in response to several requests from Vineland residents, but finding the right location took some time.

“Every time we wanted to select a site either we couldn’t do it because you couldn’t alter the site because maybe there was Green Acres money on it,” he said, referring to NJ's open space and preservation program.

When the dog park opens in a few weeks, there will be separate spaces for small dogs and larger dogs.
