Brigantine Cops Arrest Teen Armed With Sword
Police in Brigantine were busy last weekend, tracking down a 17-year-old Brigantine boy armed with a sword.
Police say they responded to a report of a fight on Friday, May 15th at a home on Lighthouse Drive. The caller said one of the people involved was armed with a sword.
Once they arrived at the scene, police say they saw a young man fleeing the area, including jumping fences, with a sword in his possession. He was tracked by officers and apprehended hiding in some bushes on Delmar Court.

Through investigation, officers learned that the juvenile male suspect went to a residence on Lighthouse Drive with the intent to engage another juvenile in a confrontation. The suspect then forced entry in to the home of the other juvenile and during the incident he retrieved a sword from his backpack and brandished it, showing his intention to use it against the other juvenile. A 27-inch sword was seized by patrol officers during the investigation.
The 17-year old suspect was charged with 2nd degree burglary, 3rd degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, 3rd degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and 4th degree obstruction. He's being held at Harbor Fields Juvenile Detention Center.
