Firefighters Follow Up at Sea Isle Blaze Scene
Firefighters Saturday returned to extinguish hot spots at the site of a Sea Island City fire that destroyed several homes late Friday afternoon.
Some of the fires sparked back up along Pleasure Avenue Saturday morning, according to reports on social media, but firefighters were able to quickly put them out and apply foam to some of the rubble to keep other spark ups from developing.
Work crews also began the job of tearing down what was left of the huge homes using Bobcats and other construction equipment, according to tweets from NBC 40.
An enhanced risk of fire continues for most of New Jersey Saturday, according to an advisory from the National Weather Service, which cites low humidity, occasional gusty winds and the presence of dry, fine material. Friday's fire in Sea Isle City was fanned by gusty winds off the ocean.
House fires were reported in Tinton Falls and Monmouth Beach on Saturday morning.
