Back in September, I told you that the first commercial flight to Cuba would take off from Newark Liberty International Airport.  Well, that flight took off this morning.

According to NJ.com,

A Boeing 737 operated by United Airlines is scheduled to depart Newark Liberty International Airport at 10:18 a.m. and land in Havana at 1:53 p.m.
United announced in September it will have one, three-hour, 35 minute flight per day to the island nation from Newark.

It's already historic, however so much more now that Fidel Castro has died.

Last year, President Obama signed legislation that eases the travel restrictions to Cuba.  You may travel to Cuba for one of twelve reasons including family visits or humanitarian efforts.
