EHT Police are crediting two unknown Good Samaritans with saving two men who were caught in a rip current Sunday afternoon.

Cops say they responded to the area of Longport Boulevard and the Malibu Beach Wildlife Area to assist in an open water rescue of two victims struggling to swim back to Shore.

According to a press release, 35-year-old Andrew Vanhoy from Runnemede and 38-year-old Joshua Vanhoy from Burlington entered the water from Malibu Beach (locally known as “Dog Beach”) and got caught in a rip current, which pulled them away from shore and under the Ocean City Bridge.

As first responders were arriving, both victims were rescued by Good Samaritans in a passing boat, who brought them to shore. The two who were in the water refused treatment after being checked-out on-scene and the Good Samaritans left before making contact with police.
