NJ Drug Dealer Pleads Guilty to Causing the Death of BurlCo Woman

A drug dealer from Trenton will be spending nine years behind bars after admitting to causing the death of a Burlington County woman by supplying her with fentanyl-laced heroin in 2018.

Under an agreement, 30-year-old Daquan Marshall pleaded guilty to first-degree strict liability for drug-induced death in exchange for a nine-year prison sentence, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina.

Authorities say an investigation began on October 30, 2018, when Burlington Township police officers were dispatched to Central Avenue for a report of a possible overdose. There, cops discovered the victim, 22-year-old Alexandra Kohfeldt, in a bedroom with a hypodermic needle near her body. Kohfeldt was taken to a local hospital, where she died on November 4th without ever regaining consciousness. An autopsy determined her death was caused by fentanyl toxicity.

Marshall has been held in the Burlington County Jail since being arrested in April 2019. He originally faced drug distribution charges, but those were upgraded when Kohfeldt died, and the drugs led back to him.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 19th.
