No New Jersey Resident Can Yet Grow Any Pot Plants At Home

Regardless of your opinion on the matter, marijuana will soon be legal to bought and sold for recreational use within the state of New Jersey sooner rather than later.

If you're not a fan of that, well, your time to state your piece was at the voting booth back in November of 2021. Since there wasn't any in-person voting, guess the more accurate way to phrase that would be to say that you should've checked off your piece of preference. Since the results were tallied, many meetings have occurred to come up with governing legislature for this new and lucrative enterprise. Though still in its infancy stages, the plans are shaping up more and more quickly with each passing month.

Not much has yet to be said, though, regarding a private citizen wanting to grow their own. As of the time of this specific article being published, September 24, 2021, there is no ruling yet stating any legal number of household plants for personal consumption. To think that a New Jersey resident won't be able to possess even one small cannabis plant is pretty bizarre considering every other state in which pot's been legalized has, at least, some allowances for personal home growth.

Sources report that currently within the state of New Jersey, growing three+ plants could land you in jail and with fines up to $25,000. Senators did say, however, that while it's not likely to happen anytime soon, people that possess a medical marijuana card may obtain the right to home grow in the future.

At the present, police may no longer arrest people found to be in possession of pot, however dispensaries aren't expected to be able to legally distribute for a few more months.
