Ocean City Cancels Doo Dah Parade, Easter Egg Hunt, Other Events
Bad news, Brady Bunch fans! Actor Barry Williams, who played Greg on the classic TV sitcom will not be coming to Ocean City on April 18 to serve as the grand marshal for this year's Doo Dah Parade. The parade has been canceled because of coronavirus concerns.
Ocean City has decided to shut down all public events, including the popular Doo Dah Parade, for at least the next six weeks to protect against the spread of coronavirus.
In a statement Sunday, Ocean City Public Information Officer Doug Bergen said recreational facilities will be closed and all planned public events through the end of April will be cancelled as the city monitors the spread of the coronavirus.
Upcoming scheduled events, including the OC Con Comic and Memorabilia Show, Girls Weekend, the Great Egg Hunts on the beach, Easter Sunrise Service, the Doo Dah Parade and Mr. Mature beauty pageant have all been canceled.
The Ocean City Community Center, which includes the Ocean City Free Public Library, Aquatic and Fitness Center, Arts Center, Historical Museum and Senior Center, plus the Ocean City Sports and Civic Center and other city facilities also will be closed.
All Recreation Department programs are suspended until further notice.
All public meetings of boards and commissions, except for City Council, are postponed until further notice, Bergen said.
