Three South Jersey-area state lawmakers want casino regulators to force Trump Plaza and Showboat to stay open at least four more months to attract prospective buyers.

Sen. Jim Whelan along with Assemblymen Vince Mazzeo and Chris Brown are asking for the delay.  The three also say companies that close a casino should not be allowed to bar a new owner from running the site as a gaming hall. The politicians want to avoid a string of shuttered casinos along the Boardwalk.
