In less than an hour on Saturday, two people were killed and two were wounded at two separate shootings in Salem County. reports the first incident happened around 11:00 Saturday night at a home on Pearl Street in Penns Grove. There, a 23-year-old Bryant Banks of Salem was shot to death and two other people, identified as a 21-year-old man from Quinton Township and a 42-year-old man from Carneys Point Township, were wounded, according to Penns Grove Police.

Less than an hour later, just three blocks away, 27-year-old Shamar Turner of Salem was shot to death on West Harmony Street.

Lt. Jason Spera of the Penns Grove Police Department said no arrests had been made as of Sunday morning, according to

Investigators believe the incidents are not related and a motive for either shooting has not been released.

These shootings come as Salem County continues to deal with an uptick in crime. Less than a month ago, two people, both in their 20s, were shot on Route 49 in Quinton Township as they were turning into a restaurant. Back in July, two men were shot and killed in Salem. This past May, as many as two dozen people were involved in an attack on a New Jersey State Trooper who was investigating a previous incident at a mobile home park in Pittsgrove; there, the trooper was shot and wounded.
