MAYS LANDING - After clinging to life for nearly three weeks, an Atlantic City man dies of injuries that investigators believe were inflicted by a suspect from Camden.

Johnny Morgan, 34, faces a first-degree charge of aggravated manslaughter for the death of Andrew McGarrigel, 53, according to the office of Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner.

Morgan is detained on unrelated charges in the Atlantic County Justice Facility. A conviction would leave Morgan at risk of a 10- to 30-year prison term.

McGarrigel died November 23, 20 days after being found on North Virginia Avenue. The Southern Regional Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be head injuries with complications and the manner of death to be homicide.

Assistant Prosectuor Rick McKelvey is conducting the case. No information was issued regarding Morgan's legal representation.

Charges are accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
