Beverly NJ resident found guilty of beating man to death with bat

A Burlington County man has been found guilty of a long list of charges in connection to the brutal beating death of a man in 2022 which ended in a standoff with police.

Larry Brown of Burlington County, NJ, convicted

After deliberating for several hours over three days, last Friday, 29-year-old Larry Brown was convicted on the following counts:

First-degree murder
Multiple counts of first-degree kidnapping
Second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun
Third-degree endangering the welfare of a child
Third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose
Third-degree certain persons not to have weapons

Murder and Police Standoff

The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office says an investigation began during the early morning hours of June 14, 2022, when the Beverly City Police Department received information that Brown had killed 34-year-old Cecilio Luciano after arriving at the home on Bentley Avenue, and was still inside that home with a woman and four children.

When Brown refused to exit, crisis negotiators from the New Jersey State Police were called and the woman and kids emerged unharmed over the next several hours.

Brown eventually exited the home and was taken into custody.

State troopers then entered the home and found Luciano's body. An autopsy determined he had been bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat.

Sentencing is scheduled for May 10th in Mount Holly.
