33 years ago this week, Kenny Rogers had the number one country song in America with "The Gambler."

Kenny Rogers began his music career in the mid-50s as part of a doo-wop group. As the years have gone by, he's been part of a jazz group performing in clubs, a writer and producer, a television and movie actor, an entrepreneur behind the Kenny Rogers Roasters chicken and ribs restaurant chain (there was one in Berlin), a member of Kenny Rogers and The First Edition, and the winner of practically every music award imaginable. He's had more than 120 hit songs across several music formats and has sold almost 70 million albums.  Plus, he is genuinely one of the nicest and most down-to-earth country music performers I've ever met and interviewed.

Enjoy Kenny Rogers' video for "The Gambler" below and then join me this Sunday morning from 6:00 - 8:00 for an all-Christmas edition of Cat Classics on Cat Country 107.3!
